Mindfulness activities for kids, self care and other similar activities have been getting a lot of buzz lately. And, with good reason! Activities like this, for example finger tracing, can actually work to help center a person.
Let me preface this with–I certainly don’t believe that anxiety, school refusal and after school meltdowns can suddenly be eliminated with something like finger tracing calming cards.
Of course, more needs to be done. For starters, the child needs a solid IEP that is consistently implemented.
But activities like finger tracing can help.

Finger Tracing Calming Cards
There are many ways you can use these free finger tracing calming cards.
If your classroom has a calm down corner, or you are trying to develop a calming classroom, then these are an easy accessory to add.
For parents, you can print these and put them in your purse or in the seat pockets in the car. When you’re out and about and it’s time to self-regulate, try using them.
Of course, you can use anything in a pinch. A book, magazine, sales flyer…whatever you have access to in the moment.
