It has not been a very good week. Two absolutely horrible stories about kids with disabilities made the news, and they were the type of stories that make you nauseous. More than ever, we need some good news this week. I found 3 stories about people doing kind things for people with disabilities….not horrible crimes against them.
Hopefully these good news stories about people with disabilities will restore your faith in humanity.
First, here’s a story that appears to be from Europe…but anyway, a woman and her husband saved money to buy a bike for their neighbor with Aspergers. No other reason than it was a nice thing to do!
I don’t know about you, but we don’t even take K to a real hair place anymore. We can’t–it’s too much for him and us. We just buy clippers and do it at home. Here’s a great story from South Carolina about a hairdresser who did a little extra for a young client on the spectrum.
And I know that my graphic says 5 stories, but some weeks I just cannot find 5 relevant stories, so this week is 3. But the last one is a great one. A Lowe’s store in Texas hired a man with disabilities….and his service dog. For years I’ve been telling you all that Lowe’s is one of the stores we should be supporting because of their commitment to hiring disabled people.
I hope this makes the end of your week a little bit brighter. I often need to be reminded that there are lots of kind people in the world too. If you have a story that you would like shared in this feature, feel free to contact me, I’d love to hear from you.
